November 1996:
- Grant written to request Technology support at Harding High School
December, 1996 :
- Grant received from St.Paul Public Schools for purchase of 70 new Macintosh
Computers and supporting hardware
December, 1996 :
- Received shipment of 15 Power Macintosh Computers (5400/180) and 55
Power Macintosh Computers (5260/120)
January, 1996:
- Ordered additional hardware and software support for above computers
- Network Cards for 5260 computers
- Network Patch Cables for Computer to Wall Terminal and Hub Closet Wall
Terminal to Hub
- Additional Necessary Hubs
- Video Cards for 5260 Computers
- Printers (Apple Laserwriter) as network printers
- Printers (Apple Stylewriters) as classroom printers
- Video Cameras (Lab) for conferencing
- MIDI music instrument adaptors (Lab)
- Computer to TV adaptors for classroom use
- Computer Projector Panel for Classroom Presentations
- Scanner for image scanning
- Software: Clarisworks 4 and Microsoft Works 4
- Hardware security for computers
- Furniture for Lab and Computer Tables for Classroom
February - May, 1997:
- Configuration of Lab Computers (15) and Classroom Computers
- Equipment delayed in arrival at Harding
- Lab (14 - Power Mac 5400's) tentatively opened for limited use
- Classroom Computers in storage in computer Lab
- (Laserwriter Printer for Library arrives and is networked)
- Three 5260 computers are placed in Library
June, 1997:
- Computers released to faculty wanting to take them home for the summer
August 1997
- Greg Renner and Mike Doris (new employee) attend a Cisco Networking
Class at Inver Hills Comunity College. Plan is to establish a "Networking
Class" at Harding
- Mike Doris is hired to supervise the Macintosh Computer Lab at Harding
August - September 1997:
- Some necessary equipment arrives
- Hub space now available to network computers
- Stylewriter printers arrive
- A "Networking Class" is established at Harding with Mike
Doris as the teacher.
- Administrative decision is made to install computers in classroom even
though hardware security is not present
- A new web site - Harding
Search - established for information and easy reference
- A local email server is installed at Harding - returning faculty members
have email on the St. Paul Public Schools Server (flast@mail.stpaul.k12.mn.us)
while new faculty members have email on the Harding server (flast@mail.harding.stpaul.k12.mn.us).
All Harding email
address are available on the web.
September - October 1997:
- Computers (55 - Power Mac 5260's) installed in classroom - Computer Installations
- Additional Computers will be installed as they arrive.
October 1997:
- Additional (used) computers (10) need to complete the goal are ordered
October 1997:
- Projection of completion of computer installation (Phase 1 complete)
